1. Basalt continuous fibre (basalt roving)
Basalt fibers are effective substitute for fiberglass and ecologically adverse asbestos and are also substitute for natural and chemical fibers in duck fabrics. Materials and articles with the warp of basalt fibers and threads considerably exceed usually used fibrous materials and articles of them in properties and technical parameters like low volume mass, wide temperature range for application (-260°C/+700°C), hygroscopicity (ten times lower than fiberglass and other fibers have), high resistance towards alkalis, acids and other aggressive conditions, low thermal conductivity, high sound absorption etc.
Contemporary technology, cheap raw materials, high mechanic, heat and electro insulation, sound-proofing, filtering and other properties of basalt fibers and articles from them stipulate their being substantially required in all industrial branches: aircraft, radioelectronic, petrochemical, car- and ship-building, electro- and heat power.

Basalt roving (BR) and Basalt roving's cut (CB) ТУ У 6-005761672.159, sanitary resolution № 3.10/32813 of 13.09.2002. Roving is an untwisted strand, which consists of a great number of approximately parallel complex threads.
Complex basalt thread is a thread, which consists of simple fibers 8/24 micrometers in diameter connected by means of glue substance, contained in oiler.
Basalt fiber in comparison with fiberglass (E glass) has some benefits:
- higher chemical stability under acid and above all alkali conditions;
- 1.4 - 1.5 times higher durability modulus;
- 8 - 10 times less hygroscopic.

1.2 Cord from basalt roving (ShTB)
Heat insulation and sound proofing of thermal equipment, filtration of aggressive conditions and corrosive gases. Also can be used as gasket element in heat exchangers, as resistant to acids and moisture reinforcement in composition materials.
Peculiarities of materials from basalt fiber: high chemical resistance to alkalis, acids and other aggressive conditions, low coefficient of thermal conductivity, high coefficient of sound proofing etc.

Mesh basalt cloths (PSB-D) - geotextile material
Because of tightening market requirements NIISV developed native geotextiles and launched the manufacture of: basalt fiber fabric NP-550 (needle - sewed linen, density 550 g/m2); PSB-D (Mesh basalt cloths for road construction).
reinforcing of road coverings (PSB-D laid between macadam pour and asphalt concrete coat, NP-550 laid between macadam and sand pours) for reinforcing of embankments, slopes, waste banks, antilandslides, erosive protection, recultivation etc. Through net PSB-D, that is laid on the land surface and fixed, grass, trees and bushes grow. Such a reinforcing method is the most effective and meet the most strong ecological requirements, non-pollute.
The basalt fiber geotextiles have a number of advantages: they are made of natural raw material (natural chemical composition provides chemical stability and resistance), non-inflammable, can carry out distributed load, the cost is 4-5 lower.

- Impregnation with special composition K( provides even higher durability and stability);

The tests were operated by UkrDorNII (UkrRoad Science Research Insitute). The materials were used in section of highway Kiev- Odessa. The test confirmed the effectiveness of the applying. Preliminary calculations and gained experience shows that the geotextiles reduce the probability of cracking, slumping, holes, pits on road coat; the durability is 1.5-2 times higher. The reinforcing materials have no analogs in Ukraine.
Thread-stitched fibre-glass cloth of NPE, NPE-O.
Appearance non-woven material consisting of two basalt-roving (glass-roving) systems easily placed on each other, festened with stitching thread by "tricot" weave. Threads of chemical or synthetic fiber (kapron, poly propylene) are used as broach threads.
Application to manufacture roll and structural basalt (glass)- reinforced plastics, heat-insulating materials.

Thread-stitched fibre-glass cloth production is economically efficient as:
- high labour productivity and low products cost are provided;
